DZIP1 is located mainly in the cytoplasm, where it is involved in ribonucleoprotein complexes related to mRNA networks involved primarily in controlling cell cycle and gene expression in HeLa cells. Inhibiting the Hedgehog pathway with cyclopamine blocks its translocation to the nucleus. DZIP1 is associated with polysomes and when HeLa cells are exposed to oxidative stress, DZIP1 is translocated to stress granules but not to processing bodies (p-bodies).Back to article page
