Pattern of P _sspA promoter induction in Bacillus. B. subtilis(pSB3024) containing the Gram-positive optimised dual gfp:luxABCDE operon under the control of P _sspA (see Table 2) was grown overnight in LB supplemented with 5 μg ml^-1 Erm at 37°C. Cells were then harvested by centrifugation and washed with PBS before diluting 1/50 into SMM supplemented with 5 μg ml^-1 Erm. Cultures were then incubated at 37°C and luminescence (▲, Relative Light Units; RLU)) and absorbance measurements (■) were taken at intervals.
