The differential effects of PDTC on the activity of mouse CS1 and CS2 gene promoter fragments harbouring 5' deletions. At 24 hours after transfection with reporter constructs, C2C12 cells were treated with PDTC (10 μM) for a further 24 hours, and the firefly luciferase activities were measured and normalized to the Renilla luciferase controls. The data values are the fold-increases (mean ± SD) in luciferase activity for each treatment over the basic luciferase vector sample activity without PDTC, and are the results of triplicate experiments. The statistical significance of the differences between the basal transcription and PDTC exposure values were analyzed by the Student's t-test, * P < 0.05, ** P < 0.001.
