  1. Yeasts were inoculated into 2 mls of SC-raffinose medium and grew overnight at 30°C. The overnight culture was then diluted with either SC-glucose or SC-galactose to O.D. 600 nm of 0.1 and return to 30°C shaking. The O.D. 600 nm reading on these cultures were monitored throughout the day until they reached more than 1. The doubling time equals to ln (2)/k, where k is the slope of the least-squares linear fit of ln (O.D.600 nm) versus time. Spaces between lines in the table separate experiments done on different days.
