Comparison of two cryosection thicknesses – 10 μm (a, c, d) and 20 μm (b, e, f). 10 μm (a) and 20 μm (b) sections showed tissue morphology of similar quality when stained with 1% cresyl violet. A slightly higher UV laser energy was needed for cutting the 20 μm sections. However, increasing thickness from 10 μm (c, d) to 20 μm (e, f) did not cause increased tissue damage during laser cutting (c, e) and catapulting (d, f). Scalebars: 100 μm.
